We do a fair number of Invisalign treatments here at the office and something that no one ever really asks me is what to do with trays when they’re done being used for alignment. Not that I’m the world’s best Pinterest dad, but you’d think it would come up more often, don’t you? Maybe people are just so pleased with their treatments that they keep their trays as little badges of honor.
But, in case you’re too afraid to ask or you’re afraid you might hurt my feelings, I dug up some materials on what you can do with Invisalign trays after you’re done using them. Remember to always disinfect anything like this that has been in your mouth for an extended period before using them in arts and crafts. But, hey, if you come up with something really original, we’d love to see it!
Dental history is so interesting to me. I guess it should be since that’s sort of what I do with my life, the dentistry part, anyway. One really bizarre and prevalent belief among European populations is the toothworm. Do you ever feel like there’s something gnawing, chewing, digging around in your teeth when you have a bad toothache? That’s the toothworm. And you’ve got ‘em bad.
Hey, science wasn’t perfect under the Roman Empire, but it got better. Eventually. I found this neat paper on toothworms and how the belief started and circulated among pre-modern populations. I thought you might enjoy it as much as I did! (more…)
I know a lot of you don’t especially love coming to visit me, but there are some of you that are absolutely anxious or phobic about dental visits. I’m talking to that subset of patients today (but the rest of you can stick around to help). I’ve been looking into some resources to help you get back on track with your oral care routine, especially if part of your phobia comes from having not been in for a while. (more…)
I know you hate having dental fillings done. They’re no fun for anybody, but they’re a necessary part of maintaining your oral health. I do them because I care, not because I want to hurt you, I promise. But what if I didn’t have to do them anymore? What if you could just come to my office and get an easy treatment and your teeth would magically heal?
The group was hushed in quite solemnity as they entered the ancient halls of Leicester Cathedral.
The only sound that could be heard was the rustling of papers as they shuffled through the heavy wooden doors and stepped onto the brightly lit building, huge arches allowing light from the giant windows of each area to pour into the next. Their intricate stained-glass work told stories of medieval figures like St. George and St. Martin, as well as more modern heroes from the first World War.
“We’ve — we’ve found the Queen!” the trembling voice bounced across the marble floor, to the crowd that had gathered, eager to hear any news of their missing ruler.
They shifted nervously as they awaited further instructions. There would be a lot of questions to answer, lots of gears had to start turning right now.
